PNN grew to provide best practice models of community-based familyfocused health care services to people of all ages in a variety of settings in neighborhoods contiguous to the university campus. With particular attention to the needs of vulnerable populations, advanced practice nursing services have included well-child care, preteen and adolescent care, family planning, women’s health, primary care for children and adults, mental health, continence, gerontologic consultation and comprehensive rehabilitation, and integrated acute and long-term care for frail elders.

At the same time, however, it also meant that expert practice combined with teaching warranted standing faculty status and privileges for clinician educators.
